[gpfsug-discuss] Can gpfs 4.2.3-4.2 work for kernel 3.12.x or above?

Hi

Just a quick check. I upgraded my test GPFS system to RHEL 7.5 today and now GPFS 4.2.3-6 and 4.2.3-8 no longer compile properly. What version of GPFS (Spectrum Scale) is support on RHEL 7.5?

Thanks
Jeff

The FAQ at:

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/STXKQY/gpfsclustersfaq.html#linux

Lists support with (e.g. Ubutu 16.04.2) with kernel 4.4.0-62, so likely it would work with a build your own kernel, but that doesn’t mean it is **supported**

    Hi All,

Any one is using a Linux kernel 3.12.x or above
to run gpfs 4.2.3-4.2? I mean you've compiled
your own kernel without paying for a professional
    service.

We're stuck by CentOS/RHEL's distributed kernel
as the PCI passthrough is required for VMs. Your
comments or suggestions are much appreciated.

    Kind regards,
