There are SAS and networking diagrams in the ESS Install Procedure PDF that ships with the Spectrum Scale RAID download from FixCentral.

You can use the same HMC as the ESS with any other Power hardware. There is a maximum of 48 hosts per HMC however. Depending on firmware levels, you may need to upgrade the HMC first for newer hardware.
