[gpfsug-discuss] Big NAS deployments

Hi all,

We're planning a big NAS deployment at Edinburgh Uni, based on GPFS
(with CTDB + Samba + NFS). We're very keen to hear about anyone who has
done GPFS-based NAS on a scale of the order of ~5000 users (or higher) -
but it would also be very helpful to just do a straw poll to find out
who is doing this kind of stuff now.

So - I have two questions:

  1. Are you currently offering desktop-user NAS services from GPFS? If
so - on what scale, and with what technologies?

  2. Have you deployed, or know of any deployments, GPFS-based NAS
services on the scale of ~5000+ users?

And, while I'm here - has anyone put AFM (Active File Manager) into
production yet? Care to share your story if you have?

Cheers,
Orlando.
